Now we need to join the various land cover classes into groups for use in the model. For this we add a ‘union’ component from the ‘set operations’.
Union takes multiple inputs and unites them into a single output.
We should first label it so we know what it represents.
Inputs are added by clicking and dragging from each LE land cover class to the input node of the union component.
In this case we are including all land cover classes that contain minimal or no vegetation.
We can click ‘run’ to set the model running…
…and see a preview of the output of the union component to make sure it is doing what we expect.
Now we need to collect together all the land cover classes that contain vegetation. Right click the previous union component and clone it.
Link the relevant LE classes to this union component and label it “Vegetation”.
Don’t forget to save the model before going too far.
Run the model again to see the preview for the new category of land cover classes.
